MOVING AROUND LONDON
Located in close proximity to the train station (and DLR Metro due to open in Feb 09). It is just yards (five mins walk) from the Woolwich Arsenal station. Also a quick bus ride to North Greenwich underground Tube station (in London’s central station zone 2). It is 15 mins on the train to London Bridge station and other Zone 1 Central London stations. Several Bus stops at the top of the site to Trafalgar square and Buckingham Palace.
LOCAL TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
Nearby attractions include Firepower (the Royal Artillery museum), Greenwich Heritage centre,Youth theatre and Woolwich Pier. The apartment next to an exclusive site of historic importance dating back to its set up by Henry VIII in the sixteenth century. Enjoy a walk or cycle along river Thames pathway extending to the Millenium Dome and all the way to central london. It provides a continous link to over 100 attractions including more than 30 museum, & art galleries, 21 historic monuments and over 10 parks and gardens.
Many restaurants nearby. Very well situated for easy access to local amenities in Woolwich town centre five minutes walk away. This includes the first McDonald's restaurant opened in UK in 1974, French market stall, departmental stores for all your groceries and a host of other stalls and shops.
Charlton stadium, home to Premiership football club, Charlton Athletic FC is 2miles away.
Quick/easy access to central London - 17 minutes on the train. Whole day off peak travel ticket including unlimited train, tube and Bus travel anywhere within Central London is �5.40. Family Travel ticket even cheaper with free travel for up to 4 children aged 11-16 years. Under ii travel free.
A short walk to Thames barrier (a unique and incredible feat of engineering that stretches 1/3mile across the Thames River built in 1983 to stop the River Thames flooding). Its Thames learning centre has a range of games, learning activities and information explaining all about the Thames Barrier construction.
The Millenium Dome along the Thames path is the largest fabric structure in the world containing one million sq ft of fabric. It's roof covers 20acres and is strong enough to support the weight of a jumbo jet!
Attractions nearby also includes the Cutty Sark, the last of the great Tea Clippers. It is located in a dry dock at the river's edge. Life on board during her voyages are well depicted.
Other great attractions include The Gypsy Moth IV (in which Sir Francis Christopher sailed around the world between 1966 and 1967), The Old Royal Naval College and Eltham Palace.
Nearby is the World heritage site, The Maritime Museum (with over two million objects relating to seafaring) and The Royal Observatory Greenwich founded in 1675 by Charles II to find out the 'so much desired longitude of places for perfecting the art of navigation' It is home to the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and Meridian Line. The Museum is a top Tourist attraction all year round.
Greenwich Market won a Royal Charter in 1700. it specialises in antique, collectables arts and crafts (Thur-Sun). It has an extraordinary mix of the past and present and has an eclectic mix of cinema, shops, eateries, bars and Cafes and a relaxed atmosphere. The Greenwich Penninsula, 2.5miles away, also has a popular multiscreen cinema complex and restaurants.
Thamesview Golf Centre in Thamesmead is 3miles away. It provides a pay and play Golf course and driving range, tuition and Golf shop Royal Blackheath Golf club is 3.5 miles away and easily reached by road or rail. The club also boasts a museum.
