Lovely year-round, The Rose Condo is located just 20 minutes from Girona Airport, a Ryan Air Hub. Girona is called the gateway to the Pyrenees and it is an easy day trip to all sites throughout Catalonia including Dali museums, the most unspoiled part of the Med coast, Southern France, and lively Barcelona.
Just north of Barcelona and south of France, The Rose Condo is ideally situated. Our 18th Century renovated building is a short walking distance to all important city sites including the north entry to the Roman Wall that surronds Girona (Gerona), Spain (Costa Brava, Catalonia). Located next to the River (Onyar), this stylish 2-story, apartment is a comfortable, convenient year-round vacation rental. With central heat, it is cozy in winter. In summer we offer air conditioning or electric fans. Surrounded by museums, sites, boutiques, cafes, food markets, parks, footbridges and riverfront, everything is within walking distance including the Rambla and just a 15-minute walk to the train station.The apartment is on the top of an elevator building, on a medieval cobblestone street. It is tastefully furnished and fully equipped with all appliances, linens, and cookware. Materials throughout are elegant: tile, marble, granite, and solid oak. Colors are warm and rich. The spacious floorplan consists of 2 bedrooms plus 2 large sofa beds, a sleeping loft, a roomy 2-story high living/dining area, 2 full bathrooms (one full-sized tub, a bidet, a venting skylight), a separate modern kitchen with a gas range, microwave, full-sized fridge, DW, and washing machine, plus 2 balconies facing parks and river. There's WiFi ADSL, a TV, DVD, and a stereo. The Costa Brava is known for great cycling (think Lance Armstrong), skiing, trekking/hiking, horse back riding and excellent swimming beaches with every kind of water sport. This is the home of cava (Spanish champagne) and superb Catalan wines. Holidays and festivals abound around seasonal foods and traditional celebrations with music, dance, arts and crafts, and processions. Everyone is welcome to participate. Catalan cuisine is at a peak. | Girona (Gerona) is in the Costa Brava region of Catalonia (Cataluna or Catalunya) in northeastern Spain. 105 km north of Barcelona, 34 km west of the Mediterranean Coast (south of French Gulf of Lion and north of the Baleraic Sea), 66 km south of France and 87 km from the Pyrenees. Girona Airport serves Andora. The apartment faces west toward the river and it is situated in northern Girona by the north end of the Roman Wall within the Old Quarter. This part of town is close to the main highway exit/entry, Devesa Park and outdoor market, a 15-minute walk to the train/bus station and a 20 minute drive to the airport. |

| Guestbook: We stayed at the La Barca apartment in the dead of winter, and had a terrific time there. The apartment is bright and airy (but not cold) and the colors Susan used to decorate are rich and elegantly European. The apartment arrangement is very convenient, with a generous and open living & dining area, with lovely tall windows, and comfortable bedrooms well away from there. The location is great--It's a quiet street in the old section of Girona, & you can walk to everywhere interesting in the town, and we especially enjoyed romantic riverside walks as the sun set.(Jan. 05)
For anyone who has been to bustling Barcelona, Girona is a treat. It has the great location and climate of Barcelona but is more accessible and quaint, with lots of history and a great selection of excellent shops, cafes and restaurants. It is a perfect place to center yourself for taking day trips to the coast (first time
I swam in the Mediterranean!) and lovely villages like Cadaques. (A car is an absolute must.) It is also close to France and the Pyrenees. The rental unit on
La Barca is a great spot, very comfortable. It's quiet although centrally located near the historical center of Giona. And everything you need is there--including
washer/dryer--and a lovely view. (May 05)
Centrally located near the beautiful square with all of the historic sites
and the river; short walk to the newer part of Girona; short walk to the train station; wonderful and cozy tapas bars and cafes just a couple of blocks away, especially the one where we went and toasted our own bread by the fire. The apartment itself is very cozy, bright and sunny with lots of natural light during the day, and has a nice balcony. (March 05)
