The Area:
Just around the corner of Placa Catalunya, Barcelona's central square at the north end of La Rambla, between one of the city's main shopping streets Portal del Angels and Via Laietana, you will encounter the quiet, pedestrian street with the apartment.
The apartment is as centrally located as one can wish for in the Medieval part of town, called Barri Gotic or Barrio Gotico (in Castilian). Barri Gotic is the oldest part of the city and is the settling site chosen by the Romans during the Augustus Empire (27 to 14 B.C.).
It is a dense are with numerous winding streets full of historic and artistic landmarks. Las Ramblas with its street vendors, living statues, bird sellers and flower stalls is very close by, just as the Pla�a reial with its bars and restaurants and the fresh market �La Boqueria�.
Northeast of the famous Las Ramblas promenade, the Passeig de Gracia offers an abundance of upscale fashion shops and department stores and this is where one encounters the most famous Gaudi buildings La Pedrera and Casa Battlo.
The apartment is in a very central, yet quiet location, making it an ideal base to explore the city.
