The gite is situated on the ground floor of the owners' house in the centre of a medieval village. For people who enjoy close contact with French culture the situation is difficult to match. It sleeps four and the price ranges from 360€-580€ per week. The prices are for four people renting, if two people rent we would reduce the price by: 80€. If three, it would be reduced by: 40€
Main Room: Stone fire place with an insert fire (glass door) fuel is included in the price. The stone comes from a quarry close to the Pont du Gard (same stone). A large oak table four chairs. Two armchairs and a settee. A radio. There are books on wine and novels. The ceiling is vaulted. Satelite television: BBC and ITV3.
Kitchenette: sink, fridge, dishwasher, combine oven microwave, two electric hobs, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. There is a cooker hood and the kitchen is connected to the main house's ventilation system.
Sleeping Area: adjacent to the main room contains two single beds which can be pushed together to form a double bed, when the sleeping area is not in use it can be closed by means of oak doors.
Separate Toilet: connected to the main house's ventilation system.
Shower Room: hand basin, shower with cubicle, washing machine, connected to the main house's ventilation system.
Bedroom: a double bed.
Porch: wooden bench (teak). This is an entrance porch where you sit in the shade, important because of our summer heat.
General: full central heating, double glazing, water softener.
Parking: there is off street parking (visible from the gite) which is locked at night. You are supplied with a key. There is a barbeque (free fuel supplied) and a table with four chairs.

Guestbook: Review submitted by William from Exmouth, UK. 9.10.2007
"we found everything we needed, the gite was attractive and cool, which was a welcome relief from the heat outside. The village was interesting and the people with whom we came into contact were friendly and helpful, particularly the lady in the book shop! Arthur and Josiane made us feel very welcome and we particularly enjoyed the trip around the vineyard and the Co-operative. It was kind of Arthur to spare his time as he was so busy. It makes an excellent base from which to explore the area, which is full of interest, paritularly Avignon and Nime. We definitely recommmend it. A lovely holiday and delightful hosts."

"We wanted to experience life in a medieval French village and we thoroughly enjoyed staying here and wandering around for a week in the village as well as the chance to visit nearby historic locations. Especially enjoyed shopping for fresh produce at the village Sunday market"

The hosts were very friendly and accomodating. The gite is well furnished and the comprehensive guide to the area is very helpful. The maps and instructions about where to park were very clear. The hosts are always on hand to offer advice and to share their experiences of life in Provence. We had a comfortable stay and will defintely return should we visit the area again."

"What a welcoming surprise to find a fire burning in the fireplace awaiting our arrival! We felt immediately at home. The apartment had lots of charm yet everything was modern and perfectly clean. Arthur and Josiane were very friendly and helpful - a pleasure to get to know. We enjoyed being in the village and it was conveniently located to visit the rest of Provence on day trips. A perfect vacation!"

"Highly recommended. We agree with the comment by an earlier reviewer that the photographs do not do the gite justice. We have stayed in a dozen or so gites over the years and this was the nicest. Josiane and Arthur were very welcoming and provided everything we needed, without being the least bit intrusive. Having the bakers very close by and a small supermarket about ten minutes' walk away is very convenient. The location is very good for anyone interested in historical towns and Roman antiquities, being close to Pont du Gard, Nimes, Arles, Orange, Avignon. There are also scenic hill top villages and other attractions nearby. We are certainly not wine experts, but found Arthur's tour of his vineyards very interesting. Make sure you leave some space in your luggage to bring some of his wine back!"

"Rochefort du Gard is a charming little village, and Arthur and Josiane's apartment there was a fine base for us in our exploration of the region, from Marseilles to the Luberon. Our hosts provided us with very helpful guidance, as well as making us feel comfortable with a welcoming bottle of their own wine. The apartment itself was clean and perfectly adequate to our needs, with an abundant supply of vineyard prunings for the fireplace to keep away the March chill. "

"dont think the photographs do the apartment justice. The village location was lovely and had a couple of nice meals out at the Italian a couple of mins walk away. Arthur and Josiane were very welcoming and full of useful information. We enjoyed Arthurs very informative tour of the vineyard and co-operative and were grateful for his time. Everthing we needed was there and there are plenty of places to go and see during the day and it was great to come back and relax in fornt of a roaring fire with a bottle of the vineyard wine at the end of the day. There was plenty of room for four adults. Had a little problem with the plumming one day but it was dealt with swiftly and all was well. recommended. "

"Josiane and Arthur are excellent hosts...the apartment is charming, the bath was a very pleasant surprise due to its spaciousness, good hot water and good water pressure...We enjoyed the fireplace to the fullest degree. My daughter was not feeling 100% while we were there and Josiane offered to accompany us to the pharmacy...Truly enjoyed a cultural exchange with this family and community....Will recommend this to all of our friends...Rochefort du Gard is an outstanding location from which to explore the areas on both sides of the Rhone but offers an excellent place to decompress in this peaceful village...With the added security of the police station right next door! Review submitted by Leeanne and Robert from Lanarkshire, Scotland. 15.09.2006
Excellent property. Was clean and had all the basic necessities. Ideally located and was only a short drive from all the main places we wanted to visit (Avignon, pont du Gard, St Remy etc). Arthur and Josiane couldn't have been more helpful and made us feel truly welcome. They provided us with maps and directions to all the places we wanted to visit and told us the best places to park and where to avoid. They kindly showed us around the wine co-operative and arranged wine tasting in English. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily visit again. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone considering visiting the area.

"Wonderful! Arthur and Josie were so helpful, and when we had an accident with our hired car, Josie made all the necessary phone calls for us and accompanied us to the car hire office for a replacement. The gite is lovely, very rustic but with all mod cons. A lovely bottle of wine from Arthur and Josie's own vineyard awaited us as well as all the essentials to start us off - milk, sugar etc. The location is excellent for visiting a variety of fantastic locations including Pont du Gard, Nimes, Orange. We even went as far south as Marseilles, which took about an hour. We hope to return and have been singing their praises to all our friends!"

"Arthur and Josie welcomed us with a bottle of superb red wine from their own vineyard, and were also very helpful when we wanted to go fishing for a day, arranging a day’s excellent carp fishing on a private lake nearby. The gite was stocked with the essentials ie; salt, pepper, sugar, oil, vinegar, toilet roll etc. In the village are two excellent artisan bakeries, a supermarket, service station with car wash, post office etc. Directly across from the gite is a excellent pizzeria. The Pont Du Gard is well worth a visit as is the Saturday market at nearby Uzes. We have been to gites in France many times and this was by far the best. Book it, you won’t be disappointed."
"Great!!!" Martin, London. 10.05.2005
"The landlords were very friendly, helpful, courteous and generally concerned over the quality of our stay. Every need was accommodated. They spent time talking with us and making us feel welcome. They offered us maps, travelling advice, weather forecasts and general information about France, and especially the daily routines involved in running a vineyard. One negative aspect was in order to accesss the patio table and barbeque, we had to leave the apartment, and cross the road to use them. We also expected the apartment to be cleaned on a weekly basis, but only fresh bedding and towels were supplied. We enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends. " Mr & Mrs Kershaw, Toronto, Canada. 02.05.2006
