| Thuir, Amelie les Bains & Ille Sur Tet are the closest places to do any real shopping. All individually different & worth visits in their own right.
Perpignan is about a 50 minute drive. The former capital of the Kings of Majorca and Counts of Roussillon! It has a busy calendar of festivals and activities with lively outdoor cafes. Quoting Salvador Dali, Perpinya (as the locals call it) “was the centre of the Universe!” With a long history Perpignan is well worth a visit simply to see the Cathedral St. John and the Devout Christ.
Nearby are the towns Ceret and Collioure (an ancient Knights Templar Port), both lovely towns boasting museums of modern art due to famous artists such as Picasso, Malliol, Soutine, Matisse, who once lived and worked in the area.
If you like the raw nature of the mountains, there are numerous hiking paths - all well documented and suitable for climbers and walkers of all levels.
Barcelona is 2 1/2 hours from Chez-Baills, offering you that Spanish Catalan choice of excellent cuisine, architecture and other cultural delights. If you don’t fancy the drive, “let the train take the strain!” |

DETACHED HOUSE. This beautiful separate 2 story house was built in the 1920’s. It’s an excellent house for larger parties. Upstairs there are 4 double bedrooms all with single beds that may be pushed together - or left apart. There is also a large shower room / toilet and hall. Two of the bedrooms have their own balcony, where you can enjoy the stunning views of Mount Canigou. Two of the bedrooms also have their own fireplaces. Downstairs is kept largely as an open plan kitchen / dining / lounge area. The kitchen contains an oven and a gas cooker, microwave, large fridge / freezer, dishwasher, electric kettle and toaster.
The dining / lounge area is equipped for everyone to eat or get together as you wish. From the kitchen / living room, you have access to the last double bedroom and the second shower room / toilet, and washing machine. Outside the front of the house you have your very own wooden garden furniture, including outdoor dining, the cool of the Acacia trees and easy access to the swimming pool!
LARGE APARTMENT for up to 8 people. This apartment has four large bedrooms with twin beds, and the very large lounge / dining / kitchen area is also capable of sleeping additional people. Again, maintained in the typical rustic Catalan style the spacious main lounge / dining / kitchen are has the benefit of a wood burning stove. The kitchen section contains an electric oven with a gas hob (4 rings), microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster. The bathroom is also large and contains a washing machine. The apartment has dining furniture appropriate to the maximum number of people for this apartment. There is direct access to the terrace with outdoor wooden furniture and barbecue - this apartment is, in our opinion, the very best part of the farm with easy access to the pool area at the rear.
SMALLER APARTMENT - caters for 2 people to 4 people This apartment has a lounge / dining / kitchen area with a wood burning stove. The kitchen area has a cooker, microwave, fridge / freezer, electric kettle and toaster. There is a shower room / toilet and storage area off the main living space. An alcove off the main area provides a double bedroom. There is a second bedroom with twin beds which is available for parties of 3 or 4 and which has direct access to the pool area. The apartment has its own section of the main terrace with wooden garden furniture. |

| Dining and other furniture in each apartment is appropriate to the maximum number of people for that apartment. Each apartment has its own wooden garden furniture and easy access to the pool area. The whole property is maintained in a rustic style. Linen and towels are provided. Smoking (with care) is allowed. A (one only) family pet is also allowed. |
| Guestbook: We stayed here for THREE WONDERFUL WEEKS! Talk about "I'm on the top of the world looking down on creation...!" Try doing that from the swimming pool for a buzz. Apartmnet was so large we kept losing each other (not a bad thing sometimes - lol)! Everything we could have hoped for. Peace & quiet, mountain scenery in rural setting but easy to get to the beach, towns & shops, with too many points of interest and history to mention! Too much for us to do in one go anyway, so... we're going back!!! |
