Rainforest Penthouse Apartment is part of Castara Retreats - a new eco-resort superbly situated above the fishing village of Castara and overlooking the broad sweep of Castara Bay. Built on sustainable tourism principles, the timber structure blends beautifully into the lush green of the rainforest - the perfect place to enjoy "living in the landscape". Bedroom 1 (Queen size bed)looks out over the deck to the ocean and beach beyond. Bedroom 2 can be arranged with twin beds or double bed and overlooks a grassy terrace and the valley beyond. The main living and dining areas occupy 500 sq ft of covered deck with a polished cypress floor and astounding unbounded views. There is a new, American-style well-equipped kitchen and a shower room. Bed linen and towels are changed twice weekly and full size frame mosquito nets are provided. The sandy beach is only four minutes walk as is the village with its little shops, cafes and fisherman's co-op. For larger family groups, you can also book the two studio apartments below Rainforest -Osprey and Pelican. They are built to the same high standards as Rainforest, enjoy the same views and each sleeps two people in either twin beds or a queen size bed. They are each 500 sq ft in size but can be joined together if desired. Nearby are three further lodges - Fisherman's - sleeping 2-3 people, Coasthanger - sleeping 2 and Birdsong - sleeping 4. |

| Rainforest is well equipped and comfortably furnished. Both bedrooms have white linen, towels,(changed twice weekly) good quality mattresses with frame mosquito nets, a chair, chest of drawers, hanging space and bedside tables. There is an abundance of soft lighting throughout controlled by dimmer switches to suit your needs and mood. Jeanell, our housekeeper, is available to do laundry at a reasonable fee. The seating areas have white wicker furniture with colourful cushions and coffee tables. You have a choice of dining tables and chairs. A hammock, free-standing ventilation fan, hair dryer and iron are provided along with a CD player. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge-freezer, stove, plenty of utensils, good quality pots and pans, tea and coffee makers, toaster, crockery, cutlery and glassware. |

Guestbook: Our stay in Rainforest was delightful. The welcome and care we received from Porridge, Duck, Jeanell, Ovita and ladies was outstanding. We fell in love with the warmth and charm of Castara, its people and its way of life. We will have many,many happy memories, especially Duck's fantastic barbeques, boat trips and rum punches! Also partying until the early hours at Sunday School with Porridge and other guests. Thank you Sue and Steve for the wonderful experience of Castara Retreats.
