Castara is a dreamy little fishing village on the Caribbean coast of Tobago. The perfect place to forget about your demanding life and just relax. You will not find a lot of action here, but there is always a chance to go on a trip around the island, just to come back in the evening and enjoy to be in the best location possible.
Castara does have a few guesthouses, but you will never find it over-crowded. There are few places to eat, so if you feel like cooking for yourself, you can buy your groceries in the city, or at the supermarket on the way from the airport. Replenish your stock in the small local shops in the village.
Don't miss out on the fresh fish that is sold at the fishermen's co-op and the homemade bread at the clay oven twice per week delicious!!.
Castara has two beautiful bays Big Bay and Little Bay. There is an unspoiled reef in Little Bay great for snorkeling. The big bay has lifeguards on duty every day of the week. The beach at the small bay is even shallower and at calm seas, perfect for supervised children.
At the other side of the village, is a charming little waterfall, reached by walking along the river-bed.
If you feel for a bit more action there are a wide range of tours - mountain biking, horseback riding, sea kayaking, diving, golfing or even a day trip to Trinidad.

London

We had a wonderful time in Tobago, thank you. We loved the island and its people. London seems very drab and grey in contrast. Highlights were probably swimming in the waterfall at Argyll early on Easter Sunday, goat races in Buccoo and just liming at Castara, hanging out at the little beach and chatting to the locals. My husband did some diving from Speyside and he and the girls did a rainforest trail which they all enjoyed.
Your cottage is beautiful. Loved the outdoor space on the verandah and the birds, flowers and sunsets we saw there. Found everything we needed in the kitchen although we did not cook much but ate at the local restaurants. Brigitte popped in to check we were OK and changed the linen regularly. Your recommendation for car rental was excellent. Charmaine met us at the airport and the car handover was very relaxed and easy. Found the house in the dark following your directions and without a map (found in car pocket several days later)!
We loved our time in Tobago and congratulated ourselves for picking the best village and excellent accommodation in which to stay. Would love to visit Tobago again and would wholeheartedly recommend Castara Cottage to anyone.

We had a wonderful week here in your lovely cottage. A real tonic after the normal hectic routine of London and Cambridge.
Brigitte did a great job looking after us and making us feel welcome.
A lovely place in a great location in a beautiful village on a gorgeous island. And Brigitte was a great manager / local contact
Thanks again
