The largest and most easterly of the parishes in Barbados, it is well known for its relaxing atmosphere contrasting with just at the border its neighbouring parish of Christ Church which is well known for its night-life and popular beaches. However the "Crane Beach" found in St Philip is rated one of the top 10 in the world, mainly beacause of its appearance of pink sand when viewing from the high cliff of the hotel above.
