Essaouira Shopping

Essaouira is the main centre at which to buy superb quality thuya carvings. The main selling point for carvers is under the Scala de la Ville, where the people are very accomodating and allow you to browse the area without any obligation to make a purchase.

You can also expect to find many craft shops in the area selling an impressive range of goods. Situated between Place Prince and Moulay Hassan street, you will find carpet and rug stores, as well as shops selling a wide variety of jewellery and brass items.

Essaouira Beaches

There is a lovely beach which stretches 10 km down the coast to the sand dunes of Cap Sim. What makes it really extraordinary is the visible ruins of an old fortress, a pavillion, which today is partially covered in sand and the wreck of a ship.

Essaouira - has also become a very popular destination for windsurfing. Fanatic Fun centre, located just before the Hotel Tafoukt, is a well equipt store which rents out windsurfing equipment. They also organisse horse-riding excursions along the beach toward Cap Sim.
