Overview

Cotococha Amazon Lodge is considered one of the most romantic places of the Ecuadorian Amazon basin on the shores of the Rio Napo, one of the mayor tributaries of the great Amazon River. The lodge is built according to local arquitecture using the materials found in the direct surroundings. All bungalows and the great gardens come to a perfect harmony with nature. The location at 16 km from the city of Tena and with a direct access from the road is for many travelers ideal, especially if planning to come from the town of Banos or traveling through from Quito to Banos.


Cotococha is a source of employment for the nearby communities allowing these to develop and make the local people more knowledgeable about tourism and conservancy of their habitat.

We offer 17 beautiful and spacious bungalows with a 40 passengers capacity, all equipped with a private bathroom with hot water showers. As no electricity is provided, at night the entire lodge is illuminated with lots of candles, torches and oillamps, creating a very cozy and romantic atmosphere. The lodge also has offers a comfortable open-air lounge with fireplace, a restaurant where local and international food is being served, and a bar where you can enjoy a chat or a drink with fellow travelers.

Excursions are designed according to the interests of the guests and together with the native guide, the day will be planned. Among the most popular excursions we have visits to the local communities, hikes in the rain forest, canoe trips, night walks, cascade visits, river tubing or rafting.

Location & area

Cotococha Amazon Lodge is located 200 km east of Quito, at an altitude of approximately 500 meters. The area forms part of the Upper Amazon Basin, characterized by small Quichua communities and abundant vegetation. Due to the location near the Andes, the area is rich in tropical humid forests, one of the most biologically diverse regions in the world with a high number of endemic species in flora and fauna. The comfortable lodge overlooks the amazing Napo River with its small islets of stones and sandy shores.

All bungalows are equipped with a private bathroom with hot and cold water showers, a private veranda with reclining chairs or hammocks to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the jungle. The lodge becomes very romantic at night, with lots of candlelight around the gardens and social areas. The cozy lounge with fireplace offers comfortable seats to read or share your travel experiences with other travelers. Several tropical drinks are offered at the bar. The restaurant is partly open-air and serves great local & international food.
