Overview
Poncho Huasi is run by an Englishman and his Argentine wife who have lived and travelled all over the world.
Alicia has roots that go back generations in this part of Argentina: she is a direct descendant of Col Bonifacio Ruiz de los Llanos, one of the gaucho leaders of the liberation army who fought the Spaniards in the nineteenth century.
Her husband Nick is an English journalist with a passion for travel who has finally settled in Salta: "because something kept drawing me back... and it wasn't just Alicia!"
What we offer is a personal service from beginning to end: we will meet you at the airport and bring you to Poncho Huasi where we're sure you will soon forget the stresses of modern life in the comfortable surroundings of our old colonial house.
After lazing by our pool during the day, or relaxing in a hammock in one of the two gardens, you can find yourself a quiet corner in our large living room, with a log fire for those occasional cold winter evenings.
We know the best places to eat, drink and listen to traditional music; and where to sample Salta's incessant nightlife.
We provide a perfect base to explore the North West of Argentina, and can arrange every aspect of your holiday to the finest detail should you so wish.
If it's adventure you're after, there's rafting, trekking rock climbing and horseriding; jungle, desert and puna expeditions in 4x4 vehicles.
The Wild North West has it all! Just let us know what you want and we'll arrange it.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
