Location & area
On weekends there is a large handicrafts market and legions of street performers. Moreover, there are a great number of restaurants, pubs, night clubs on the streets, outdoor shows and a cinema complex surrounding the cementery, which gives a special atmosphere to the place. The squares and parks are the main characteristics of this neighborhood, where many cultural events take place on these days. Just to mention some of them: Francia Sq., Thay Park, Naciones Unidas Sq. and Vicente López Sq.
Nowhere is this elitism better displayed than at the resting ground of the rich and famous at the Recoleta Cemetery. It is one of the most famous cementeries in the world. Founded in 1822 by the Recoleto Fathers it has sculptures, crypts and gaves where famous people rest, some of which are considered Historic Monuments. On the other hand, you can also appreciate the Nuestra Señora del Pilar Basilic and the Recoleta Cultural Center, both built in 1732.
If you want important art exhibition centers, nothing better than the Fine Arts National Museum (1931), the Palais de Glace (1911) and the National Decorative Argentine Museum.
This neighbourhood is also plenty of important hospitals, such as Fernández, Rivadavia, Alemán and the one specialized in children, the Ricardo Gutiérrez.
Recoleta is a distinguished place where tourists and citizens gather and share special moments in life.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
