Overview

Taylor House, a gracious sixteen room Victorian home in Boston's Jamaica Plain section, was built in 1853 as a summer home for George W. Taylor, an international merchant head-quartered in Boston. It is situated within the Monument Square Historic District, and lies in an area known as "Pondside", which contains some of Boston's finest suburban architecture. The structure is Italianate in style, but retains some Greek Revival elements that reflect the earliest architectural style found in Jamaica Plain. A distinctive octagonal cupola sits atop the main house, and this shape is echoed in a number of ways within the interior of the structure. The house is surrounded by Victorian-inspired gardens and lies less than one block from a beautiful pond and a town centre that offers excellent dining. Upon entering the main lobby through double arched doors, you will see a beautiful staircase leading to the second floor rooms. A continental plus breakfast that includes fresh baked bread and pastries as well as fresh cut fruit and cereals is served daily in the first floor kitchen. We offer a congenial, tasteful and serene environment that will enhance your visit to Boston, whether you are here for business or leisure. Our wonderful Gold Retrievers, Wags and Parker, will be happy to help you feel at home.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:

  • It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
  • If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
  • Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
