Siesta Key is a barrier island just south of downtown Sarasota. Fishing, swimming, dolphin-watching, boat & jet-ski rentals, sunset and fishing charters, and tennis are a few minutes walk. Several golf courses are within 20 minutes drive, over 50 are within an hour. Siesta Beach is consistantly named one of the 10 best beaches in the world, by various US and European travel magazines.

Sarasota is known as a mecca for the Arts, with 6 live theaters, ballet & opera house, Art Museum Stroll (first Friday of each month) , and Art Colony Stroll (3rd Friday of each month). Close-by Lido Key has St Armand's Circle, a European style fashion shopping district, while several other upscale and all-family shopping areas are also close by. There are several kid-friendly activities, including "G-Whiz", a "hands-on" Science Museum, movies, and biking the Key. And scores of fine restaurants!
