Port Charlotte is one of Florida's best kept secrets. An excellent central location midway between cultural Sarasota and Fort Myers. Great malls, boutiques and speciality shops - 'shop till you drop' country, often at bargain prices.
Restaurants in this area vary in price, with styles to suit all. Port Charlotte beach is just a short drive as is the Charlotte harbour, which offers fishing, windsurfing and sailing on the Peace River.
The more adventurous can take a swamp buggy tour to see panthers, deer and alligators or Kayak along the 14 mile Myakka River at the Myakka State Park.
