Location & area
Pinecrest: In the Shadow of the Mountains
Pinecrest, California is the place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The area can be enjoyed throughout the year, offering skiing, boating, hiking, fishing, snowboarding, and all sorts of outdoor activities.
Nearby Pinecrest Lake is an angler's paradise. The calm waters and beautiful mountain views surrounding the lake only add to the enchantment as you try to catch one of the lake's rainbow trout. Other lake pastimes include water skiing, sailing, kayaking, or just relaxing on shore under the Sierra Nevada sun.
Stanislaus National Park is just a stone's throw away from Pinecrest. The park has over 80 miles of rivers and streams and offers some of the best hiking in all of California. The park has something for everyone. Children will enjoy the interactive guided tours by park rangers. Bicyclists will enjoy the scenic views as they pedal along the excellent paths. Naturalists and eco-tourists will appreciate the solitude of the park's many trail heads.
The mountains around Dodgeridge Ski Resort may be a bit less traveled, but you will find some awesome ski and snowboarding opportunities here. With 60 runs and 11 lifts, Dodgeridge is a great place for beginners and experts alike. The excellent ski and snowboarding schools promise to get the total novice up and moving after only 1 lesson!
For a great day trip, head south to majestic Yosemite National Park. See Yosemite Falls, the tallest waterfall in the continental US and one of the tallest waterfalls in the world. Take a gander at some of the world's largest trees, the incomprehensible Giant Sequoias, some of which are 3200 years old! Hike the vast network of trails that lead to such famous peaks as El Capitan, Half Dome, and Glacier Point. Go white-water rafting on the Tuolumne River. Cycle the 10 miles of paths that wind through the valley. Three stables offer guided horseback riding tours of the area. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of one of the black bears that roam the park.
Pinecrest is conveniently located to other popular California destinations. Head north to scenic Lake Tahoe, or head west, and pan for gold in 49er country.
However you choose to spend your vacation in the area, Pinecrest will leave you refreshed and wishing you could stay!

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
