Overview
Wake to the sound of waves, watch seabirds diving into Conception bay while you drink coffee in bed - perhaps even spot a few whales or an iceberg just off the point.
The Cox House is located in the small community of Blackhead along The Baccalieu trail in Conception Bay North. This area of Newfoundland is remarkably similar to Scotland or Ireland heath moors on coastal hillsides and craggy cliffs jutting down to the sea. For photography buffs there are amazing vistas at every turn.
Hike along the coast and find a seabird nesting area or venture up one of the many woodland trails to and old train trestle. A short 9km drive and you can be walking the broad expanse of sandy beach at Northern Bay Sands provincial park. At the farthest tip of Conception Bay North is the Baccalieu Island Bird Sanctuary - home to the North America's largest colony of Leach's Storm Petrels. In addition, Northern Gannets, Black Guillemots, Puffins and many more spend summers in the area.
The Cox House has maintained much of its traditional character while still providing all the modern comforts you expect on holiday. There are 2 bedrooms with double beds and a pull out sofa bed if needed . If you consider a pet part of your travelling family we welcome them too! Fully equipped with linens, kitchenware, barbeque, tv/dvd/vhs, games, Newfoundland books, and even an ecclectic old LP collection to take you back in time.
We're Looking forward to your visit - aren't You?!

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
