Overview

Eastside is a working family sheep farm of 3000 acres, run by Alastair and Susan Cowan, in the heart of the spectacular scenery of the Pentland Hills Regional Park. The 18th century farm steading has been imaginatively converted into three character filled cottages which sit side by side on the hillside and combine old world charm with all modern conveniences yet only a 10 minute drive from Edinburgh.Eastside Byre is entered through a traditional stone archway from the farmyard. A stone flagged corridor leads to the spacious, light, well equipped kitchen dining room with exposed beams. There is a utility room with toilet and Belfast sink off the corridor. Four steps down from the dining area are the 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin. The double bedroom has an ensuite shower room with wash hand basin and toilet. There is also a bathroom on this lower level, again complete with wash hand basin and toilet. Returning to the dining room, an ash wood staircase leads to the upstairs sitting room which has spectacular views of the surrounding hills and valley. This is a character filled room with exposed beams and a stone hearth with wood burning stove. Location & area

Eastside Cottages are situated just six miles from the Edinburgh City by-pass half a mile beyond Silverburn on the A702.
To get to Eastside Cottages, you take the A702 or Biggar road from the Edinburgh City by-pass, the A720. You drive approximately five and a half miles southwest until you reach the village of Silverburn. You then drive straight on through the village and half a mile beyond the village, on the right hand side, you will see a bus shelter and, a few yards beyond it, a recessed field gate (where you can safely turn off the main road to open the gate). You proceed through this gate and one mile up the track you will find the cottages.

In the living area there is a colour TV with video, DVD, CD player. In the kitchen dining room there is a pay phone. For small children, a cot and high chair can be supplied.
The cottage has a wood-burning stove and electric underfloor heating. Unlike a lot of self-catering cottages there are no hidden extras! Logs and electricity are included in the price as well as bed linen and towels.
