Overview
Burnbrae is a traditional stone cottage situated in the quiet village of Milton, near Drumnadrochit, just 2 miles from the shores of Loch Ness. At any time of the year it is an excellent centre for day trips around the Highlands - to the Isle of Skye in the west, John o'Groats and the Castle of Mey in the north. In winter the ski slopes of Cairngorm or Aonoch Mor are only an hour's drive away - or if you prefer hill walking and climbing - the Affric hills are only 15 miles to the west. The area is rich in history with museums and visitor centres telling the story of times past - Culloden battlefield, Fort George, Urquhart Castle, Cawdor Castle, the Clansman Centre in Fort Augustus and too many more to mention. Those of you researching your family's Highland connections will find much of interest in the local area and lots of resources available to help you with your search.
Drumnadrochit which is just a 15 minute walk from Burnbrae has many excellent bars and restaurants along with shops, bank, post office and visitor exhibitions. Horse riding, mountain biking, walking, fishing, boat trips on Loch Ness are all here on the doorstep. Just a little further afield you can see dolphins in the Moray Firth, visit a distillery to watch whisky being made and perhaps sample a wee dram, take a trip on the Cairngorm Mountain Railway, see life as it was in the Highlands in days past at the Highland Folk museum at Newtonmore - if fact there is so much to see and do you will have to come back again and again.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
