Overview
Eilean Mor Cottage is a traditional stone croft house complete with the very typical dormer windows. The cottage was built in the early 1900's and was completely renovated some years ago. Although the property now benefits from modern conveniences like double glazing and central heating, much of its traditional charm has been untouched. The meter thick walls, the v-lined decoration, the dormer windows and the spectacular view give you a glimpse of life in days long gone by and give the house a cosy and comfortable feeling.Eilean Mor Cottage is located up hill, a mere 100 meters from the shores of Loch Dunvegan and thus securing spectacular views over the Loch and the outer isles beyond. The setting is rural and tranquil. Early risers might spot deer grazing in the hills at the back of the property. The sun lounge gives great opportunities to enjoy the outside even when the weather is not fully cooperating. However on sunny days, with a mild sea breeze, you just walk out of the front door and let the unspoilt beauty of the Loch and its surrounding hills unfold before your eyes.Eilean Mor Cottage is surrounded by a fully fenced, spacious, secluded, mature garden. It has a private driveway connecting to the public road and private, off-road parking with ample turning space.Close by is a variety of things to explore. You can enjoy a lovely dinner at the Three Chimneys Restaurant, one of Scotland's top restaurants. The restaurant is a only a 5 minute walk down the road. Or you can visit the local arts & crafts galleries and shop for something nice to remember your Skye holiday. In the direct vicinity there's a true wealth of scenic spots to explore and enjoy Skye's famous beauty to the max: Neist Point and Waterstein, Orbost and the beach, MacLeod's Tables and the Coral Beaches to just name a few. Or you could just wander off into the hills at the back of the cottage! Bring your binoculars and spot a variety of birds.

Location & area
Skinidin (or Sgianaidin in Gaelic) is a popular and thriving community situated some 6 miles from Dunvegan on the north west side of the island and is some 30 miles from Portree, the Island's capital where you will find all the facilities you would expect of a small town. Facilities in Dunvegan include restaurants, village shops, post office, medical centre and a primary school.
The name "Skinidin" goed back to the days of old when the Norse were actively involved in Skye. According to some sources "Skinidin" means "bleached dun" and its Gealic counter part of "Sgianaidin" links back to language of the old Norse. Historically it is believed that there were three duns, or forts, in the area built to protect the peninsular.
Unmissable landmarks of the area are two flat topped mountains, called the MacLeod's Tables (in Gaelic, Healabhal Bheag and Healabhal Mhor). If one is reasonably fit one can walk up the tables and enjoy a truly splendid view towards all sides. Be sure to bring water tight shoes as the hill top is very wet!

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
