The Park Apartment (sleeps 3) has its own wonderful Palladian staircase entrance, at the front of Pilrig House, exclusive to guests. Each of our 3 apartments in Pilrig House is immaculatele, beautifully decorated and designed with comfort in mind. Guests can enjoy the private gardens, including a Regency garden to the side of the house, teeming with wildlife - birds, squirrlels and foxes, and which has secluded seating areas, as well as parkland on their doorstep. The peace and tranquillity to be found in our unique location is really vey special and much appreciated by guests! Private parking - a rare commodity in Edinburgh - is also available to guests... each of our three apartments has a designated parking space in a private car park to the rear of the property. (Our second apartment - the 'Balfour Apartment' sleeps 4 people, and our third apartment - the Garden Apartment sleeps 2).
The Park Apartment comprises: spacious & sunny living-room with dining area, lovely recessed window-seat, oak flooring, flame-effect fire, and double oak doors that open out to a small, south-facing portico entrance at the top of the staircase overlooking the private gardens and park, where guests can sit with a glass of wine and watch the world go by; sunny double bedroom with park views; single bedroom - also with park views, fully-equipped, modern kitchen; fully-tiled luxurious bathroom with bath (shower over bath and glass shower-screen), heated towel rail, shaver point).

Pilrig House has a fascinating and distinguished history - it was home of the same family for hundreds of years - the Balfours, and it also has a wonderful literary connection with Robert Louis Stevenson - his family lived in Pilrig House, and, as a child RLS often visited with his mother, and he played in the gardens here. He mentions Pilrig House in many of his books, eg Kidnapped and Catriona.
Our apartments at Pilrig House are non-smoking. And, sorry - no pets.
We take minimum 3-night stays/4 nights in June & July/Christmas & New Year, and 7 nights in August.

The views from all apartments overlook peaceful parkland and private gardens, temming with birds, squirrels, foxes.
There is a good restaurant within minutes' of the entrance to the property, as well as a bistro/bar.
Bus-stops are only a 5-minute walk away, and there is a frequent bus service to the city centre if walking is not desirable!
Under a mile from Edinburgh's city centre and all the main attractions - Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Calton Hill, the National Portrait Gallery, Holyrood Palace, Arthur's Seat... , and, also under a mile from, and a short walk to the fashionable 'Shore' area of Leith, located on the waterfront, and home to the Royal Yacht Britannia - an area buzzing with great eateries, Michelin-star restaurants, wine bars, and around a 15-minute walk from Edinburgh Botanical Gardens.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
