Overview

This Cottage is on a working family farm. We run a small herd of beef cattle, (Small by modern standards). We are situated in the clean air of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The semi-detached cottage, dating back some 250 years, is built of stone, with the thick walls and pan tile roof traditional in this area.

Location & area

The farm is situated in a rural setting, yet is within three miles of safe sands and quaint harbours sheltering local fishing cobles. Whitby's swing bridge, across the river Esk, is nine miles via the coastal road (A174), an eighteen-minute car ride. The slightly longer moor road (A171) competes by providing a superb view of the coastline

The sitting room has seating for 6, a TV as well as an electric fire for additional heating.
Of the three bedrooms, two have a double bed; the middle bedroom has two single beds (each room has a small electric heater). Bed-sheets are provided, but not towels. Also a baby’s cot, a high chair and bath are available on request.
The kitchen / diner has all electric equipment (Microwave, toaster, cooker, kettle, coffee maker , fridge and a freezer, )
Three electric storage radiators provide heating for the cooler days (this electric is included in the letting price). The electricity supply in the cottage is on a £1.00 slot meter, which will have a credit of approximately £5.00 when you arrive. There is a bathroom and also shower room with washbasin and a wall mounted hairdryer with shaver outlet.
Each of these rooms has a WC.
An automatic washing machine is also in the cottage.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:

  • It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
