Overview

Merlewood Cottage is a particularly attractive house that is the home of Alick and Peggie Whittle and, from here, this welcoming couple offer superb bed and breakfast accommodation.Both guest rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished, with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside, have private or en-suite bathrooms and one even has a balcony.Alick's home-cooked, hearty breakfast is served in either the family kitchen or on the terrace that overlooks the cottage's delightful garden and the surrounding countryside beyond.The owners, Peggie and Alick Whittle, are friendly and welcoming. They are very knowledgeable about the surrounding area, and guests are received with a hot drink. While visiting the B&B you are encouraged to enjoy the delightful garden, and the thirteenth-century church is well worth a visit. There is also a charming thirteenth-century pub in the village, which serves excellent food. Totnes is two miles away and this is also an ideal base for exploring Dartmoor and coastal beaches.
