Amenities & services

Annie Kindleysides, whose family have worked the farm for many years, is a caring and attentive host and provides great breakfasts. Guests have the use of two lounges and the bedrooms are very homely.

"My parents farmed here and it is where I spent my childhood. I returned, with Brian, in October 2001 and have welcomed guests for bed and breakfast and meals since, says Annie.

"The house dates back through four centuries. There are TVs, books and music available for residents in both the lounge/dining room and the library. All rooms have a tea/coffee making tray, with home made biscuits, fruit & flowers, a CD player, radio and of course full central heating. A cot can be added to any of the rooms.

"Breakfast is usually served at a time of your choosing between 8.30 & 9.30 a.m . If you would like to have breakfast earlier, or later, than this, please ask. If you would prefer a change from a traditional English breakfast or have specific dietary requirements then please let me know the night before if you haven't already told me at the time of booking.

"We cook most nights except Mondays. Three courses cost £16.00 during the week - £20.00 at the weekends and includes a complimentary aperitif and nibbles. Special occasion meals with perhaps fillet of beef or duck, (however they do cost more), can be arranged for anniversaries, birthdays e.t.c. Non-resident parties are welcome as long as there is a minimum of six people, with a maximum of twenty people. We don't have a drinks licence so please bring your own.

"We also offer group meals (6-20), by arrangement, for your special occasions - birthdays, anniversaries, friends or family reunions, small business meetings and so on, with individually designed menus, served formally or buffet style.

"Should you have any special dietary requirements I can usually accommodate them or adapt a menu to your preferences whether its gluten free, low salt or vegetarian - available for Moslem / Hindu guests as Halal meat cannot be sourced locally. Packed lunches can also be made up and of course I will fill up flasks as you need. Most requirements can be managed if we are given advance notice. Flowers for special occasions can be ordered with a couple of days notice.

"The village doesn't have a shop any more but we have a daily paper and selection of magazines with both a local and countryside bias.

"If there is anything else we can do to enhance your enjoyment of your stay in the Lyvennet valley, just ask."

Non-resident parties are welcome as long as there is a minimum of six people, with a maximum of twenty people. With the library, it is also possible to provide private dining for couples that want a special romantic break with candles and an open fire. I make my own bread and almost everything served here is cooked from scratch with real stocks. Should you have any special dietary requirements, I can usually accommodate them or adapt a menu to your preferences whether its gluten free, low salt or vegetarian - available for Moslem / Hindu guests as Halal meat cannot be sourced locally. Most requirements can be managed if we are given advance notice. We try to use either home produced ingredients or at least locally produced foods wherever possible. We don't have a drinks licence so please bring your own. Flowers for special occasions can be ordered with a couple of days notice. Packed lunches can also be made up and of course I will fill up flasks, as you need. If a group (between four and ten people) would like to stay and take a cookery course, this can be arranged during off peak times of the year.
