Overview
Michalmas is an ideal base for walkers, birdwatchers, beachcombers, nature lovers and sun worshipers. It forms part of a row of four cottages, with a tiny front garden and a small courtyard to the rear. The cottage sleeps two. It consists of a double bedroom, bathroom, lounge and modern kitchen.
The Downs are only 200 yds away. They include the famous landmark of Beachy Head and many of the footpaths lead to attractive downland villages and beautiful scenery.
The sea is only 200yds away, where there is the shore at Holywell and extensive promenades. Walk west along the shore at low tide and there are many rock pools. At high tide, as much as 20 - 30 yards of beach is left revealed before the chalk cliffs, depending on how calm or rough the sea is. Walk east along the promenades passing lovely buildings, large hotels and beautiful flowerbeds towards the Bandstand, the Pier and the famous Carpet Gardens. Further afield, Brighton lies 25 miles to the west and Hastings 20 miles to the east.
Eastbourne and the surrounding area have many restaurants, cafes and pubs with food outlets. Many of the hotels also have restaurants open to non-residents.
