Overview
Located on the slopes of Sierra del Carche (Murcia, Southern Spain), La Casa de Mortes has been design for those who seek a long-term vacation in harmony with nature. Built mainly with natural materials, this environmentally friendly villa offers a low-impact, energy-efficient life-style thanks to its straw-isolated walls, green roof, rainwater collector and grey water recycling. A tree garden with local species of pine, plane tree and mulberry offers a gentle shade for the house and its inhabitants. Cypresses form a natural fence that surrounds the entire perimeter of the villa (house, garden and orchard). The rest of the grounds comprise a small-sized, easily-maintained, drop-by-drop irrigated organic orchard. In less than 1000sq.meter, a great variety of local fruit trees provides almost year-round fresh produce: oranges, plums, cherries, apricots, peaches, grapes, pears, pomegranates, almonds and medlars. Grow your own greens, from a of artichoke to z of zucchini using our locally selected seeds, and cook them with olive oil made from our two centenary olive trees. Communications: 10min to town (Jumilla), 35min to Murcia, 50min to Alicante airport.
