Overview

Los Curriches offers adult-only self catering accommodation in the Axarquia region of Andalucia, inland from the Costa del Sol near Malaga. The property is a restored 17th century presshouse, set in 9 acres of olive and almond groves, surrounded by peaceful and unspoilt countryside.We have a large, clothing-optional pool (10x4m) with extensive terracing and gardens, so Los Curriches is the perfect place to relax in the marvellous climate of the Costa del Sol; or to enjoy the unspoilt scenery by hiking in the many local parks (El Torcal, Sierras Almijara, Tejeda and Alhama to name just a few); or to mountain bike on the numerous quiet dirt tracks of the Montes de Malaga Natural Park (we have bikes for hire).The historic cities of Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, Ronda, and Sevilla are also easily accessible via the excellent motorway network. With stunning views of the Sierra de Camarolos mountains opposite, and situated close to the villages of Casabermeja and Colmenar, this is an idyllic location.

Location & area

Although the holiday rental cottage is close to both Malaga and Granada airports (35 minutes and 60 minutes respectively), the Axarquia region is still an unspoilt region of the Costa del Sol, where small white pueblos nestle into the countryside and farming is still the main source of income. Surrounding the Axarquia region are the mountain ranges of the Sierra de Camarolos (in the north), the Montes de Malaga (west), the Sierra de Alhama, Tejeda and Almijara (east), with the coast to the south. This is a fantastic hiking/walking location.

You can relax by the 10x4m pool or, if you are feeling more energetic, there are also a huge number of excellent walks, mountain bike rides and other attractions nearby just waiting for you to discover!

Nearby is the historic town of Antequera with its magnificent Moorish fort, ancient churches, Roman ruins and dolmens (Bronze Age burial chambers). The historic cities of Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, Ronda, and Sevilla are also easily accessible via the excellent motorway network.

The beaches at Malaga are a 30 minute drive away. The coastal towns of Nerja, Maro and Torre del Mar and their quieter beaches are also quickly reached in about 45 minutes.

Amenities & services

The cottage was completely refurbished in 2008 and outfitted to a very high standard. On the ground floor is a large lounge with two leather sofas; wood burning stove; gas heater; CD player; TV; DVD player; satellite receiver (showing UK Free-to-air channels: BBC, ITV, Sky News, and numerous other music and entertainment channels). A selection of DVDs, CDs and books is also provided in the cottage.

Also on the ground floor is a fully fitted kitchen with plenty of worktop space. The dining table will comfortably seat 4 people. The kitchen has a full-size fridge, with separate freezer compartment; gas oven and hob; microwave; kettle; and a toaster.

The cottage has a ground floor bathroom, with a full size bath and a thermostatically controlled power shower, and a first floor ensuite shower room to the master bedroom, with a double-width thermostatically controlled power shower. There are 2 bedrooms: 1 with a double bed; 1 with a single and a double bed.
