Overview

Casa Azul was lovingly restored in 2007 and is perfectly situated being close to all the monuments in the old Arab or Moorish quarter and yet just a stone's throw from the beautiful scenery of Los Tajos (the gorge). The house is perfect for a couple searching for a quiet escape - sometimes the only sounds to be heard are the bells of the sheep and goats as the local shepherd brings them past the end of the road on their way back from grazing in the gorge, and the delightful contrast of the chiming church bells. The accommodation, all on one floor, consists of a double bedroom with original beamed ceiling, modern bathroom with bath and shower, kitchen with electric hob, and a lounge-diner with sofa-bed, again with attractive original beams, with French doors leading out onto the secluded courtyard decorated with typical Andalusian tiles. Due to the traditional thick stone walls, Casa Azul provides a cool retreat from the baking midday sun, although in the winter months the wood-burner will keep the house cosy.The house is a 5 minute walk to the main town square where you will find many cafes, bars and restaurantsGranada, with its world-reknowned Alhambra and winter sports on the Sierra Nevada, is 45 minutes drive from the cottage, and the sea at the Costa Tropical is a scenic 60 minute drive away.The nearby lake offers swimming and water sports in a picturesque setting.The town, Alhama de Granada , has two thermal springs where the spa water can reach temperatures of 47 degrees. Lovely! "What a charming little place! Tastefully decorated and thoughtfully equipped. Fantastic walks, and some good sunning on the cafe terraces.

Casa Azul is located in the Arab Quarter of Alhama de Granada, close to the main historic monuments of the town. The centre of town with its restaurants, shops, cafes, banks etc is only a 5 minute walk.
The nearest airports are Granada (40 minutes) and Malaga (90 minutes). You can often pick up very cheap flights to either of these destinations.
