Overview

A spacious two bedroom chalet in the mountain village of Planina pod Golico, 25 minutes from Bled. Sleeps 4 in a double and twin room. The chalet is fully self-contained with: equipped kitchen, living room, dining space, large foyer, shower-room and WC, beautiful mountain views, a garden, and terrace balcony with table and chairs, plus a BBQ. From the terrace of the chalet you look out over the village and church to forested hills, and in the distance, the Julian Alps. From the door, you can hike or cycle through forests & into the Karavanke mountains. There is a chair lift in the village which takes you up to a fabulous Alpine view-point and small ski area. The road through the village is dead-ended so there's almost no traffic, but the expressway is just 5km away down in the main valley. You'll be ideally placed for all the sightseeing: Bled, Bohinj, Kranjska Gora and the Julian Alps are all close by. There are two bars in the village, but no shop. Your own transport is therefore recommended.
Planina pod Golico (which literally translates to 'The meadows at the foot of Mt. Golica') sits in a beautiful hanging valley about 900m up in the Karavanke mountain range, which stretches along Slovenia's northern border with Austria. The village is surrounded by the forested peaks of Golica and Klek.
Access to the house is easy with the expressway linking you to Austria and Ljubljana about 15 minutes away, down in the main valley. Despite the proximity to main routes, the village is hidden away in the hills, with no sign of the hectic modern world! Both Ljubljana and Klagenfurt airports are less than an hour by expressway. Both of these airports are connected to UK by budget airlines and car hire is easily available.
Local activities include: cycling, horse riding, paragliding, fishing, roller blading, tennis, walking, mountaineering, swimming, skiing, mountain biking and golf. Bled golf course is 20 minutes drive; a fabulous 18 hole par 73 course set in some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in Europe. There's a small ski lift and ski runs less than 5 minutes walk from the chalet (but not open every day).
