Overview
This Slovenska chalupa (meaning Slovakia holiday home) boasts a spacious living room area, five bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is also a kitchen/dining room, a ski-room/utility room and a patio with grill and seating area for barbecues.
Each of the five bedrooms in the has a double bed and there are a further two sofas that can be made into beds in the upstairs living room, if necessary. The house can accommodate up to 12, but we would recommend parties of up to eight, due to the size of the dining area.
There are two bathrooms on the ground floor. The first has a modern shower cubicle and the second has a large corner bath.
There is also a toilet situated on the middle floor of the house.
The spacious living room, which comfortably sits eight people, is situated on the top floor of the house. A panoramic window looks out over the delightful Mala Fatras.
In the living room there is a colour television, a DVD/DivX player, a VHS video recorder, a Satellite TV system (with approximately 20 English language channels, including a number of British channels, as well as many German, French and Spanish channels), and free wireless broadband internet for up to four laptops.
There are also many board games, books, DVDs and videos in the house to help keep the kids occupied during your stay. Whether it is after a day's skiing, at one of the many nearby ski centres, in the winter season, or after a day's excursion to one of the region's many tourist attractions, in the Summer or Spring.
Best of all, though, is the location of Chalupa Ria! Although you are not far from the village and thus do not feel isolated in any way, you are, nevertheless, in the countryside, at the foot of one of Slovakia's National Parks.
As you sit out in the garden, eating food from your barbecue with a glass of local wine, enjoying the spectacular views of the Mala Fatras to the rear, the Oravska Magura to the front and a woodland (filled with mushrooms or berries depending on the season) on your left, and you hear the sounds of nature all around, the birds singing, the wind rushing through the trees; you are guaranteed to feel refreshed, relaxed and totally at home.

Of course, winter sport enthusiasts may prefer to come during the 4-month long ski season (from December to March), and take advantage of the many ski centres in the surrounding area. And in the autumn, Zazriva is the perfect place for those of you that like to go strolling through the woods, mushroom picking.
Situated between Dolny Kubin and Terchova, Zazriva is also a great location for day excursions to many nearby tourist attractions, such as Orava Castle, the Orava Art Gallery, Zuberec outdoor museum and the UNESCO site of Vlkolinec.
Nowadays, Slovakia is becoming more and more popular as a holiday destination, due to it natural resources and low-cost restaurants, outdoor activities and tourist attractions, which make it a good alternative to the likes of Austria, France or Germany. Nonetheless, Zazriva still has that unspoiled, rural charm, where you are able to experience the 'real' Slovakia, with all of it's wonderful culture and tradition.
