Overview

This 2-bed, 2-bath duplex apartment with its own private entrance direct from the lush gardens is 30mins by taxi from Faro airport (E45/GBP40 fare). With full air-con, it has ~120sqm/1300sqft plus a large breakfast balcony. It is equipped to sleep 4 to 6 people.

The master bedroom has double bed and is ensuite, the second bedroom has twin beds and is beside the second bathroom; both have air-con. A pullout couch in the dining room can accomodate two small children or one adult; a cot or campbed can be provided additionally. Satellite TV (BBC, ITV, etc) lets you keep up with the news, the sport or your favourite soap.

With full air-conditioning/heating, the apartment is comfortable both summer and winter while the Atlantic location limits climatic highs and lows.

Tavira is in the Eastern Algarve, an area which has developed relatively recently and which has learned from the early mistakes of the Spanish Mediterranean coast and of the Western Algarve. The kind of petty crime which plagues many parts of the Algarve and of the Spanish Costas is rare here while the absence of disco bars is matched by an absence of lager louts. Bus and train services are excellent and many people do not bother with car rental. Taxis within Tavira are readily available and inexpensive (~Euro 4). Day trips to Lisbon, Seville, by train or express bus.

Ilha da Tavira (Tavira Island), a short ferry ride away, is a sunworshipper's paradise with beautiful sandy beaches, restaurants, etc � and a remote nudist beach for the more adventurous! There are many other excellent beaches all along the coast; there is the nature reserve of Ria Formosa; the hills and valleys of the Algarve and the ancient towns of the Guadiana valley to explore; the old churches and castles of Tavira.

The pools, the tennis court and the gym in the complex itself, or the golf down the road (Benamor, Quinta da Cima, Quinta da Ria, Monte Rei, Castro Marim, Maragota, etc are all within a 20 minute radius), appeal to the active-minded. Folk music/dancing, wine/cork industries; orchards/vineyards, handcrafts, etc, make for local interest. The apartment is managed by the Tavira Garden administration, local support is always on hand for minor disasters. The bar, restaurant offers Internet access while the gym has sauna, jacuzzi, etc, in addition to a wide variety of exercise machines. The tennis court is bookable by visitors. The restaurant provides regular outdoor barbecues and live entertainment during the summer. There are two children's play areas. The lush, mature gardens offer a relaxing setting to read, lounge about, etc. The Caribbean-style poolside bar is normally open May through September. While there is no washing machine in the apartment, an on-site self-service launderette with washer, drier is available to guests at a small charge. Small charges apply for the gym and for the tennis court.
