Overview

Set inside the Quinta das Colmeias estate, this recently converted, dairy, offers a cosy alternative to the main house. Situated 5 minutes from the local golf course and 10 minutes from the sea and surrounded by mountains, it provides a fantastic starting point for many local activities like walking or horse riding.
Quinta das Colmeias is located 15 minutes from Madeira's only airport at Santa Cruz and 5 minutes from the village of Santo da Serra. This secluded property has a swimming pool with ample gardens surrounded by beautiful mountain views. The same facilities are available as the main house, like the pool and the croquet lawn.
The open space living and dinning area has a fireplace which makes a welcoming centre piece on returning home after a day of exploring the island, there is plenty to keep you busy: watch some TV or listen to your favourite CD's, play some cards, read a book or just relax. The living area easily seats 10 as does the dinning room, which also has a fireplace.
Equipped with all modern facilities, the kitchen has all you need to cook up a feast. With hobs, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and of course a dishwasher. If you don't feel like cooking there are quite a few restaurants only 5 minutes drive from the house. A barbecue is also provided.
The Cottage has one twin bedroom and two double bedrooms, one of which is accesable from the outdoors. There are two bathrooms one with bath the other with a shower unit.
Santo da Serra is well known for its clear mountain air and for which reason has been considered a country retreat for many generations. A maid service is provided every four days. Quinta das Colmeias is managed by the owner and his family, who will be more than pleased to provide additional information on local restaurants, places to visit, car hire and general activities.

Location & area

Only minutes away from the local village of Santo António da Serra, where you will find a small grocery store for your immidiate needs and a couple of restaurants. For more choice in shopping you can either go to Camacha, santa Cruz, or Machico all 10 to 15 minutes away.The quinta is 5 minutes from 27 hole Santo da Serra golf course, part of the PGA European Tour. There is also a Horse Riding centre next to the golf course both with restaurants. There are plenty of levadas and other walking trails to explore, where you can enjoy the truly unspoilt beauty of this luxious sub tropical island.
