Herman Brood (1946 ? 2001) Herman Brood was a contemporary Dutch musician, painter and actor, who embodied the so-called "Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll" culture. Brood began his career as a piano player and singer, starting his own group, Herman Brood & His Wild Romance, in the 1970s. He began painting in the 1990s, and became known for his large-scale, colourful works reminiscent of the CoBrA style. In 2001, at the age of 54, he committed suicide by jumping off the rooftop of the Amsterdam Hilton.
