The Westerpark area: this late 19th century neighbourhood is located within walking distance of Amsterdam Central Station. The unique urban park in the grounds of the former Westergasfabriek is a real 'place to be' for cultural activities. International art, design and fashion shows are regularly hosted in the monumental buildings of the old factory. It's also a good place to go for excellent food, a relaxed drink, dancing or to watch a film at their cinema. There is a lot to discover in the Westerpark area for lovers of architecture too, like the old Westergasfabriek, the Museum 'het Schip' (Amsterdam School of Architecture) and the Silodam. There are plenty of lively bars and restaurants in the area, as well as several theatres and cinemas. Relaxation: at city beach 'Strand West' you can lie in the sand and enjoy the sun. Also, exclusively for ladies only, there is the Moroccan bath house 'badhuis de Hammam' in the Zaanstraat. The main tourist attractions in the city centre are reached by a 7minute bus ride.
