Self catering holiday home in Barga -Romantic studio apartment with separate entrance and a breathtaking view, located in ancient villa that was built at the start of 1900 in a quite and panoramic area of the town named " Al Sasso", only 2 minutes walk far from Barga centre.
The location of this apartment could not be better - 1/2 block walking distance to the pharmacy, trattatoria and walled city centre of Barga so within 2-3 minutes walk you can find shops, restaurants, cafes, turist information office and the communal library that offers free internet.
The bus station is reachable in 1/2 minutes walk. Communal pool, riding school and tennis courts are reachable in a 10/15 minutes walk. -

The apartment was the large living room of the villa, there is now inside a dividing wall with two archs.
Suitable for two people, the apartment has an independent entrance and a huge panoramic TERRACE with outdoor furniture for dining outside or sunbathing or enjoying the breathtaking views of the vineyard, of the valley and of the distant mountains.
The quiet and relaxing place rich in fairy tale atmosphere could be ideal for a honeymoon, however, if you have a baby it is possible to arrange baby bed.-
The studio/apt is quiet, clean and bright with a lovely garden/vineyard to gaze upon. The view is amazing - completely unobstructed with great patio furniture for candlelit evenings.
Kitchen fully equipped - including microwave, gas hobs, fridge and washing machine. Bathroom with toilet, sink, bidet and shower.
- Saturday of every week is the usual change over day but arrangements can be made for other days

BY BUS. The bus goes direct from PISA AIRPORT to Lucca bus station you can then take the direct bus to Barga.

BY TRAIN. From Pisa airport, change at Pisa Central, then direct to Barga - Gallicano train station (5 minutes by city-bus or taxi far to Barga town centre).

BARGA, one of Toscana's most beautiful hillside towns, is situated 21 Miles north of Lucca at the southern end of the spectacularly beautiful area known as the Garfagnana which sits between the Apuan Alps and the Appenines in the very north of Tuscany.Barga is an important centre of the Garfagnana, has wonderful views of the whole area and the town itself is a charming network of narrow streets, archways and winding stairways.
The upper (and older) part of the town is to be explored on foot and has all sorts of hidden alleyways and tight staircases leading to who knows where the streets play host to an unusual Living Nativity pageant each Christmas.The town grew up around an ancient Lombard castle and was surrounded by a wall with three separate gates.Barga hosts art, opera and jazz festivals as well as weekly markets, great local restaurants, swimming pool, riding school.

Barga is often known as "The Most Scottish Town in Italy" due to the thousands of emigrants who left this area in the last century during the famine to start a new life in Scotland. Many made their fortunes in the fish and chips and ice cream businesses and return each summer to their home city.

Italian Touring Club has recently assigned the "orange flag" of the "Migliori borghi d'Italia" ("Best villages of Italy"), a distinguished sign recognizing the peculiarity of its beauty and of its quality.
Locally there are lots of interesting towns & villages to visit and many excellent walking trails & mountain bike trails.
