Overview

Garfagnana–Media Valle del Serchio is a wonderful still pretty unknown area of northwestern Tuscany. In this marvellous setting we have recently restored a group of farmhouses, which have been property of our family more than 150 years. Our accommodations are located on a hill at 450 m. asl, in a nice secluded place, surrounded by chestnuts and thorntrees, at the edges of a hamlet near Bagni di Lucca, which is a lovely spa-town at 25kms from Lucca, 55kms from Pisa and 85kms from Florence.

We have at your disposal three holiday villa units and a cottage for a total occupancy of 20 people: Casa Ciesa is our XVIII century countryhouse of approx. 300 sm. divided into three luxury villa units and Il Castello is our little lovely cottage. All units can be rented separately or together for large groups and families. Clearly the result of the talented design of the Italian architect Alberto Francini of Metrogramma, they leave no detail unattended. Exposed beams, original terracotta tiles pavements and typical Tuscan rural furniture are among examples together with all the features of a modern house.
Casa Ciesa & Co. will be your perfect starting point to explore the wonders of our region and Tuscany in general.

Casa Ciesa al numero 3 is the largest of Casa Ciesa holiday houses. It is has three levels plus a basement, is about 140sm. in total and can accomodate up to 6 people. On the ground floor, a living room with a fireplace and sat-tv and a bright kitchen with balcony and views over the wonderful surrounding nature. On the 1st floor there are two double bedrooms. A garret on the top floor, with double bedroom and bath with shower. In the basement there is a bath with shower and a pretty cellar with typical products show and sell for our guests. Outside, a large garden completely fenced (1000sm.), an exclusive backyard, equipped with garden furniture ans barbecue and a wood-burning oven for pizzas and bread below a loggia.

Casa Ciesa al numero 3 is located in a nice secluded place at the edges of an old village of nowadays 100 hinabitants. A narrow road drivable with small cars crosses it. All cars are preferably to be parked on the village main square at a 150 mts. asphalted distance from our house, to be covered on foot.

Location & area

Bagni di Lucca is about 5 kms. away and a nice tourist resort, where you will find general stores, shops, and sport centers (public swimming pool, tennis courts, etc.) and a beautiful spa as well, known during the 18th and 19th centuries as a beloved holiday or residence destination of personalities and artists like Byron, Shelley, Puccini, Metternich and Radestsky.

Traces of this glorious past are its monuments: the English Church, the Catene bridge, the Spa, the villas, the Casino, etc. Enjoy beautiful walks, bicycle or horse rides on the surrounding hills, which are full of churches and Roman parishes: S. Pietro in Corsena, Pieve and San Cassiano di Controne, Montefegatesi, Casabasciana and Vicopancellorum. Nearby, Borgo a Mozzano and the Maddalena bridge, better known as the Devil's bridge, Barga with its typical historical centre, Coreglia Antelminelli and its Museum of Plaster Figures and Emigration. Lucca (about 27 kms.), Pisa (about 55kms.) and the close Tyrrhenian coast, (or Versilia about 40kms.) offer further cultural artistic and eno-gastronomical diversions.
