Overview
Temple House is a classical Georgian Country Mansion set in an estate of 1000 acres, overlooking a 13th century lakeside castle of the Knights Templar. The Percevals have lived here since 1665. The present house was refurbished in 1864 and retains its old atmosphere, furnishings and some canopied beds.
Meals are thoughtfully prepared using fresh local ingredients, including produce from the farm and walled garden.
There are terraced gardens and miles of woodland walks. Guests may also explore the lake in a rowing boat or fish for pike. Within easy reach are beautiful beaches, archaeological sites, riding schools, trout lakes and golf courses. Traditional music and dancing sessions are often held nearby.
General Information:
Temple House is not an inn nor a hotel, rather a family-owned country house on a 1200 acre estate almost surrounding Temple House Lake. County Sligo has many archaeological sites [5000+ B. C.], riding stables, well known golf courses, magnificent mountain scenery, lakes, waterfalls and miles of beautiful beaches. We can help plan your day tours to the cliffs of South Donegal, Ceide fields and Achill in Co. Mayo, the lakes and National Trust Houses of Fermanagh and the hills of Connemara.
Golf - Rosses Point, Bundoran, Strandhill, Tobercurry and Enniscrone with Kilcullen's Edwardian sea-weed bath house nearby.
Fishing can be arranged..
Trout fishing on Loughs Arrow and Conn.
Salmon fishing on Owenmore and the Moy.
Sea fishing from Mullaghmore. Pike on Temple House Lake.
Riding and Trekking - Markree riding stables and Island View.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
