Overview
Irish traditional thatched cottage has been in the McElwee family for six generations. Peaceful rural location in scenic Fanad, Donegal. Nearby sandy beach, golf course, mountains, lakes and rugged Atlantic coastline. This holiday cottage has been carefully restored by Michael to retain all original features whilst modern comforts have been subtly integrated. Upon entry through the cottage's half door you come into the living area, the focal point being the traditional open hearth fire flagstone floor and open hearth fire, Irish dresser with old pottery pieces, spinning wheel and butter churn. Charming Victorian Parlour/sitting room.Cosy bedrooms upstairs with crisp white bed linen. Bed linen, towels and fuel for open fire are supplied.

The cottage contains two bedrooms (linen supplied) upstairs and is designed to sleep 3 comfortably but can accommodate 4 persons. The original "Irish kitchen" which is the heart of the cottage, features a flagged floor and open fire (fuel supplied. It is furnished with an antique dresser of century old delph earthenware, butter churn, spinning wheel, and old-style long table. The glow from the turn fire adds to the warmth of the welcome you will find at our Irish cottage.
Margaret and Michael will welcome you on arrival at the cottage with turf fire burning and have everything nice for your arrival.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
