Overview
Our decision to open Roundwood as a guesthouse over 20 years ago was initially based on a desire to meet and interact with people and to fulfill a longstanding ambition to restore a house of great architectural merit. The approach we have taken to all aspects of the accommodation and dining has been guided by our own personal experiences and, together with our staff, we endeavour to create a special place where personal service comes naturally, life is taken at a more relaxed pace and good food, wine and conversation abound. Each of our ten bedrooms and three self-catering cottages have their own unique and interesting features, are filled with books and paintings and have beautiful views of the gardens. Evening meals are prepared with great care and imagination, using ingredients that are always fresh. Our philosophy has always been to provide an informal, Irish atmosphere, where it is possible to meet and enjoy the company of other guests. We hope that you will have the chance to discover the many charms of Roundwood House and its surroundings for yourself.

Amenities & services
The house has a comfortable atmosphere achieved by the design of a large two-storied hall which links the smaller proportioned reception rooms.
There are six large double/twin bedrooms, each with bathroom ensuite, and central heating.
In the old house, which dates from about 1650, there are four more double and twin rooms, all with bath and shower ensuite.
In the dining room, drawing room and study, we hope you will find the informal relaxed atmosphere, typical of an Irish country house.
There are eighteen acres of pasture, woodland and gardens, which are a delight to relax in, and many very interesting outbuildings which we hope to restore in the future.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
