The Area:

The most beautiful, white, sand beaches and crystal-clear water are found here. You can visit the famous Castle of Santa Maura, right next to the channel built by John Orsini in 1300. You can visit other local villages by following the eastern coast road that passes through the villages of Ligia, Nikiana, and Nidri, one of the most popular holiday spots on the island. Continuing on the road you will come to Vassiliki and Agios Nikita, picturesque fishing villages. Nearby Karia is known for its traditional embroidery. From Nidri you can take a short ferry ride to Megenassi, Sparti, Maduro, and Scorpios.
