Overview
The Villa Irene was built over 20 years ago, carefully incorporating much of the traditional Corfiot building style. The one storey house has a huge main living/dining room with a fully equipped kitchen separated by a breakfast bar constructed from old polished timbers, hung with original Corfiot cooking pots of antique copper.
The kitchen has a full stove/oven, family sized fridge and worktops of solid, hand-cut marble. Two sets of French windows lead out to the terrace. Completely covered by greenery, this outside dining room provides a fresh, cool place to eat and you'll find plenty of garden furniture to slump out in.
Atop the villa is our roof terrace fantastic for serious sun worshipers but partially covered in vine for those who wish to cool off. With its own barbecue and dining tables, you can create your own taverna, catch the evening breeze and watch out for shooting stars.

Location & area
Approximately 30 kilometres from Corfu Town and airport, the area lies beyond the reach of most of the big tour companies' concentration of resorts and retains a rather forgotten, somewhat unpolished atmosphere. The local residents have never put themselves out to maximise the natural potential of their district and we feel that this reluctance to really organise themselves has resulted in a delightful, laid back and relaxed location. Many of the locals prefer to cultivate their smallholdings, producing wine, fruit and vegetables, of which they are fiercely and justifiably proud. Luckily for us, some of them have made their properties available for us to let out to guests.
St George boasts 7 kilometres of golden sand beaches, which have repeatedly won the coveted EU Blue Flag. St George's restaurants and tavernas are owned and run by local families and you will find a fantastic choice of food available at reasonable prices. So, even if you feel like a quiet, candlelit dinner for two in a quiet taverna, the younger members of your party could be sharing a spit-roast chicken and making new friends in a sports pub further down the road
Make no mistake though this is no bawdy, riotous resort but somewhere you can all find what you're looking for.
There is a local doctor's surgery, well-stocked mini-markets, plentiful tavernas, an ATM point, fruit and vegetable stores and a terrific village butcher. We'll tell you where to buy the essentials, such as flagons of local, organic village wine and slabs of fresh feta cheese and even where to refill your water bottles from the local spring. In summary, St George has everything you need for a comfortable holiday in a friendly and restful village setting.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
