Brittany Ferries' ports of Roscoff (5 hrs away), also used by Irish Ferries; the Normandy port of Caen (4 hrs) is served by Brittany Ferries and P&O, as is Cherbourg (4.5 hrs) - which also has crossings via Irish Ferries. The new toll-free dual-carriageway road across Normandy has reduced journey times from Cherbourg or Caen, and makes for very easy driving. Dover to Calais is convenient for many (roughly 6 hrs to the Vendée), with P&O, Hoverspeed, SeaFrance and others, while anyone travelling from Scotland and the North of England might want to consider P&O's ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge or the Superfast Ferries route from Rosyth to Zeebrugge (around an 8-hr drive - mostly on motorways - to the Vendee).
Fly from UK: Anybody visiting without a car can fly from Gatwick to Nantes (Easyjet GB Airways), or from Stansted to La Rochelle or Poitiers with Ryanair, or take Eurostar to from London Waterloo to Lille, then TGV to Nantes and local train to La Roche-sur-Yon.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
