Overview
Built in 1503 this stone built property with its shady courtyard nestles in the heart of Medieval Sarlat. A quiet oasis in the jumbled weave of alleys and passageways that gives Sarlat it's world famous charm.
Steeped in history Sarlat is central for all the sights of the Dordogne region, Lascaux caves, Beynac and Castlenaud castles, the bastide villages of Domme and Monpazier are all within a 30 minute drive.
From April - Sept it's possible to rent a canoe on the Dordogne and float effortlessly between the walnut groves and castles of this stunning historic region.
Pre-History - from Neanderthal up to the Romans, the Dordogne is rich in artifacts and sites of interest. In Medieval times the wealth of the merchants led to the stunning architecture to be discovered in Sarlat and exquisitely preserved to this day. Thanks to the foresight of Malraux, the Culture Minister who in the 1960's designated Sarlat as of outstanding international importance. History continued with the arrival of the German troops in 1944 who left the town untouched but have left a fascinating legacy in the area.
Sarlat itself is central to this region known as the Golden Triangle of the Dordogne
and La Lantern itself sits snugly in the heart of this fascinating town making it an excellent base for your visit. A one night stay is quite simply not enough!

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
