Overview
Beaulieu is a skilfully restored 18th century farm house set in 7 acres of grounds, amid fields, vines and woodland.
It is the permanent home of Johanna and Andy Jaggs who have created two separate and independent self-catering cottages each finished and furnished to a high standard. The cottages are constructed from natural stone and although restored to offer 21st century comfort and convenience, still retain their oak-beamed charm. Together with their situation the cottages offer comfortable, tranquil and peaceful holiday accommodation to the most discerning of couples. We offer a child free holiday.
Each cottage has a modern fitted kitchen, with split level oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave. The open plan galleried lounge and dining areas are tastefully furnished.
A staircase leads to the oak-beamed bedroom with ample wardrobe and drawer storage space, and doorway through to an en-suite shower room with wc and washbasin.
Each cottage has a private patio outside the french window entranceway with table, chairs and gas BBQ.
The 10m x 5m swimming pool is newly installed and has roman steps at the shallow end (1.2m) with a gentle slope to the deep end, (1.6m). The pool has a paved surround with a large sun terrace. There are tables, chairs, loungers and sunshades for when the sun gets a little too hot.
The predominant views are over our new meadow to the tower of the 14th century Chateau de Gurson. We have two large natural ponds which are constantly fed from a spring alongside the entrance drive. You may often see large terrapins (which are native to the area) in the ponds, several species of frogs and visiting ducks and herons. A wide variety of uncommon birds can be seen in and around the gardens and meadows including kingfishers, hoopoes and hen harriers. We often see deer in the adjoining fields in the early morning.

Location & area
Within easy walking distance (1km) is the Lac De Gurson. This lake complex was built about twenty years ago by all the local communes. It has two large lakes, one has a beach area with beach type cafes, bars and restaurants. There are areas for fishing and quiet paths which are excellent for walks, and also two very good tennis courts, and a boules area.
At the top of our 200 metre entrance drive is a country lane which leads in one direction to our local village of Villefranche-de-Lonchat which is less than 2km away. The village has a great deal of history associated with it dating back to the 12th century. There are two churches dating from the 14th century. A museum has been established in the Hotel de Ville to illustrate the local history. Villefranche has a pretty tree lined village square, two cafes, restaurant, boulangerie, butcher, post office, pharmacy and a general store.
Turning out of our entrance drive away from Villefranche leads through many hectares of woodland to the pretty hilltop village of St. Vivien.
In all directions there are picturesque country lanes winding through forests, fields of sunflowers, wheat, maize or cattle, sheep and goats, ... and only the occasional tractor or car. The area is superb for walking or cycling.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
