Overview
Light, airy and comfortable, the decor uses beautiful local materials together with the craftmanship of local artisans, creating the warmth and ambiance of a traditionally Provencal home.
Wood-shuttered windows in the living room, dining room and kitchen look out over the rooftops of Sablet, across the vineyards, to the Dentelles de Montmirail and the neighboring villages of the Cote du Rhone wine producing region.
The living room is spacious with a wood stove that adds warmth and coziness on cool days.
The formal dining room is set up to enjoy those evenings when you wish to have a special meal and a bottle of the local wine made right here in Sablet or one of its neighbors.
The fully equipped kitchen is not only a delight to be in, but also allows you to use those culinary skills - which when combined with the incredible fresh ingredients available here - creates magic! Traditional cabinetry and tilework create a kitchen that is as good to look at as it is to work in. Quality appliances include and five burner cook top, wall oven
(convection/conventional), microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator/freezer as well a full array of cookware. A comfortable seating area for breakfast or more casual dining.
Step out of French doors from the kitchen to the courtyard garden furnished with a table and chairs, comfortable chairs for lounging and a Weber gas barbecue. Surrounded by flowering plants, herbs and vines, breakfast, lunch and dinner in the courtyard are truly special. In the shadow of the old church, a soft glow from the lights of the steeple at night, the trickle of the fountain on a warm summer evening or cool crisp Provencal morning.
Upstairs, in the oldest part of the house - tucked away under beamed ceilings you'll find two full bedrooms. One with an ensuite shower and hand basin and the other with a full bathroom adjacent - including both bath and shower as well as toilet and had basin.
BEDROOMS ARE AIRCONDITIONED
All bathrooms have been remodled and are tiled with either local marble (ensuite) or travertine stone (powder room and full bath).
Masion des Pelerins is situated in the heart of the Cote du Rhone wine producing area and provides and excellent base to visit the entire region. Only minutes for Avignon, Vaison la Romaine, Carpentras, Orange, St. Remy de Provence, Aix-en-Provence, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Beaumes de Venise, Chateauneuf de Pape.. the list could go on and on.

Location & area
Perched at the top of the traditionally Provencal Village of Sablet, right next door to the 12th Century Romanesque Church of St. Nazaire ....
.......it is likely (from the appearance) that the oldest part of the house dates back to a similar time and was once associated with the church.
The interior of Maison des Pelerins has been completely renovated - this house provides an experience that is a dream of living in Provence! On a warm summer morning, wake up to the church bells and the aroma of fresh bread baking at the Boulangerie below. Take two minutes to walk down to the Village Shops for your fresh bread and croissants for breakfast, which you can enjoy in the coutryard, by the fountain.
Situated in the heart of the Cote du Rhone wine producing region, this relaxed, charming, fortified village is rich in history, gastronomy, leisure and cultural activities. It is, as yet, a largely undiscovered treasure, which lies at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail but allows one access to every part of Provence within easy day-tripping distance.
The oldest part of the village "inside the walls" (the remparts), is made up of narrow streets or 'ruelles", built in a circular fashion around the beehive shaped hill, which afforded inhabitants protection against numerous invaders over many centuries. The picturesque "village houses" are huddled together.Today, the village has expanded beyond the "Remparts" and has an active group of "commercants" who provide for the day to day needs of Sabletains and the residents of the neighboring village of Seguret as well as the many vintners in the area. The Village of Sablet is located approx. 9 Kilometers south of Vaison la Romaine in the heart of the Cote du Rhone Wine Growing Appellation. Winery visits and wine tasting are right at your doorstep - from the the many Sablet Wineries to its well known neighbors such as Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacquyras and Beaumes de Venise with its Muscat - a truly local specialty - and wonderful aperitif or desert wine!
Concerts, theater and film festivals are frequent in Vaison la Romaine, Avignon and Orange - all within a few minutes of Sablet. Antiques shopping (or window shopping) at Isle sur la Sorgue is a special treat in this world famous Antiques center.
Cooking Schools and Cooking classes with Chefs of the caliber of Patricia Wells are only a few minutes away, as are the fragrant and colorful lavender fields which perfume the whole region during the summer months. Within a short distance are towns such as St. Remy de Provence (where Van Gogh spent his last years), Aix en Provence (also known as the Paris of the South), Salon de Provence (home to Nostradamus), Les Baux de Provence (dramatic fortress village), Cassis (beautiful beach town) and Marseilles. Maison des Pelerins is the ideal spot for rest and relaxation after a busy day at these nearby "must sees".
