Overview

Welcome to our little house in Port Leucate, France

Situated on the outskirts of Port Leucate, close to Port Barcares on the banks of Etang de Leucate ou de salses (A large salt lake) and a 2mins drive from the beach

Port Leucate is located in the Langedoc-Rousillon region in the South of France. It sits on a narrow strip of land with the Mediterranean sea on one side and the salt lake on the other. It is a very lively place during the summer with lots of shops, restaurants and some of the world's best beaches to enjoy. You can hire bikes to get around or hire a boat from the boat hire shop beside the house to explore the lake, famous for it's oysters.

In winter time you are welcome to visit and relax in the quiet atmosphere or visit the nearbuy medieval town of Carcassonne with it's spectacular castle. The air conditioning in the house provides hot and cold air, so it's comfortable all year round!

Facilities

The house will comfortably sleep 6 adults, there is a large double bed, a fold out single bed, a flod out double sofa bed and a Holidoze travel cot if you are travelling with a baby.

At the front of the house there is a sun terrace with retractable awning and outside storage. Inside, on the ground floor, you will find a spacious living area leading to a full kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge freezer, gas hobs, double sink, toaster, kettle and full set of cutlery, plates etc.

The bathroom is bright with white units, shower cubicle, toilet, sink and large mirror.

On the mezzanine floor is the bedroom. As well as the bed there are large sliding door wardrobes and lots of floorspace. There is also a velux window with pull down blind.

To keep you cool during the hot summer months there is remote control air conditioning and in the colder parts of the year it can also provide warm air.

To keep the house secure during your visit there are two large heavy doors at the front which are locked with three double bolts.

Where is it?

Our little house is situated in Port Leucate, located in the Langedoc-Rousillon region in the South of France.

It's near to the towns of Perpignan, Narbonne and Carcassonne. Barcelona is only a 2 hour drive away also.

The house sits beside a large salt lake and just round the corner from a fantastic beach. There are shops within a short walking distance.


If you're flying into France, there are a few different airports within the area. Perpignan, Carcassonne and Barcelona are all within a 2 hour drive of Port Leucate.

What's in the area?

Port Leucate is a lively town with lots of shops and restaurants as well as large sandy beaches.

For the kids there is an aqua park and a forest adventure park both within walking distance of the house. Watersports are a massive part of holidaying in the area with waterskiing centres and windsurfing schools etc.

Just around the corner from our house, you can hire a boat for the day and explore the lake or if you enjoy fishing there are some very popular spots close to the house.

The town of Fitou, famous for it's wine making is just across the lake from our house. In this area there are lots of medieval towns and chateaux.

All along the coast there are lots of other little towns, again with lots of different shops, restaurants and beaches. Local markets take place most mornings and tourist markets usually set up in the evenings, only a 5minute drive from the house.

If you are visiting during the winter months, you are within an hour and a half or so away from some fantastic ski resorts.
