Overview

Le Grand Saule nestles below the 11th century tower of the village of Moncontour. It is a house of character and history and provides tranquil, comfortable, and spacious accommodation. The house is set in its own grounds and offers secure parking. The large lounge / dining area which looks out on to the beautiful garden, provides satellite and french television and a DVD library. The continental breakfast offered can be taken here in the dining area or on the patio overlooking the sunfilled garden. Relax on the patio amongst the roses and herbs, or in the rear of the garden, which backs onto the River Dive. In the garden can be found an original, medieval ball from a catapult used during the seige of the tower.

The accommodation consists of one family unit and one double unit, both ensuite and both with satellite tv and tea and coffee making facilities.
Moncontour houses an 11th century donjon, a pleasure lake with water sports including a ski lift; numerous forest and riverside walks and all the general amenities required including a doctors. Euros and Sterling accepted.

Moncontour is based on the edge of Deux Sevres and Vienne. It is approximately 4 - 5 hours from the ports of Le Havre, Dieppe and Caen making it an excellent stop over for your journey to the South of France. It is also an excellent point for house hunting.
