It is the continuation of the Rue Oberkampf, one of Paris busy and trendy street, full of great bars and good restaurants. Rue Ménilmontant is buzzing during the daytime with it's many shops dragging a lot of patronage. The area is pure parisian multicultural life and few tourists have heard about it (yet), so it remains very genuine. Still, it is within walking distance from the Pere Lachaise, the very famous Paris cimetery, which is full of celebrities' graves to the point that it has become a well visited tourist attraction.
