Purpose built in 2004 on the Montriond road above Morzine, this lovely traditional Ski Chalet has all that you would expect from a chalet holiday. From the comfortable, decent-sized rooms to the crowning glory of the hot tub. The decor inside the Alpine Refuge is tasteful and traditional, but with all the modern comforts you could want. The furniture inside is made locally with local wood, so as to reinforce the sense of being lost at the top of a mountain, whilst having brought a chef and a sauna with you.
The hosts combine a focus on quality, mature staff with a passion for the winter sports, making this chalet an excellent choice for anyone for whom quality skiing is as important as a quality evening meal and a beautiful environment to have a holiday in.
The operators of the Alpine Refuge have several years experience and happily offer a free of charge ski-guiding service to their guests. This allows them the chance to show you the very best parts of the massive Portes-du-Soleil area and make this year's holiday experience one you won't forget.
The Alpine Refuge is sold as a catered chalet holiday. The chalet operator has a reputation for employing staff with a level of experience above what would normally be expected of a chalet holiday. For a discerning guest, this means that the food is generally excellent and surprisingly different. Your day begins with an extensive continental and cooked breakfast, a healthy start to a day of exercise. Après-ski is laid out by the log fire as you arrive back at the chalet, followed by a lavish four-course evening meal. An example menu is available on request.
The meals are served with good quality bottled wines from a selection made pre-season of local french and new world choices. The dinner is completed with coffee and chocolates. Vegetarians and special dietary requirements are happily accommodated, and children's supper can be served earlier if that's the preference of the group. There is one staff day off during a normal 7-day stay and we will happily make reservations for you at a local restaurant for the evening meal. Breakfast and apres-ski are still provided on the day off.
The Alpine Refuge has five twin or double bedrooms, and an adjoining bunk area perfect for children on the upper floor. Each of the bedrooms has a private en suite.
The Alpine Refuge is situated just below the Montriond Road, which forms one side of Morzine on the uphill side of the gully. This makes it easily able to access either the Super-Morzine lift, which is just 8-10 minutes walk away, or the Ardent Telecabin via Montriond. To get a quick start on the day, private minibus transfers to the lift of choice are offered by the experienced hosts, who are often joining you on the mountain! For those wanting a later start, the free "navette" ski bus stops directly outside.
