Overview

Our AlpineVue apartment situated in La Grande Terche (St Jean d'Aulps) is perfect for winter skiing from December - April with the main ski lift 150yds accessing 20 slopes for beginners to advanced. This includes the Circuit Roc d'Enfer through unspoilt forest scenery for skiers and boarders who enjoy the peace and quiet.

Our apartment is close to all amenities in the self contained traditional hamlet of La Grande Terche with bars, restaurants, supermarket, ski school, ski hire and St Jean d'Aulps, the main village, is 5 minutes away. A ski bus can take you to the next town of Morzine with access to the Portes de Soleil region and over 650km of skiing - the largest ski area in the Alps. St Jean d'Aulps is a traditional Savoyard style village with restaurants and shops with excellent cafes for afternoon coffee.

The area also boasts a host of activities other than skiing for those who would like to try somthing a little different. Local guides will take you out on moonlit snow walks (for various levels) to a chalet for cheese fondue and mulled wine. Every week there is a 'torchlit' ski session at La Grande Terche where the effects of the flames over the snow is superb. During the daytime you can always sit back and relax, taking in the atmosphere and beautiful views.

The apartment sleeps a maximum of 6 but would perhaps be more suited to 4 adults but depends on your individual choice. It is ideal for couples and small family groups for all levels of skiing with an English-speaking ski school 150 yards away for private or group lessons.

Location & area

The apartment is based in the small and traditional resort of La Grande Terche. Nestled in the valley with spectacular views all year round and next to restuarants, bars and a local supermarket. The resort is relatively quiet and would suit those who like a few drinks after skiing rather than pubs and clubs. It is prefect for children with local play areas, a ski school and our apartment is near the end of a no through road so traffic on the road is minimal.

There is a ski bus to take you to Morzine, Ardents and Avoriaz for high altitude skiing and the link into Switzerland. The area is fantastic in the summertime with Lake Montriond nearby.

This leads directly to the balcony for breakfast with a view. With the large front window there is always a bright airy feeling to the apartment, particularly in the afternoons when the sun comes round to the balcony and in through the windows.

Ski locker for outdoor equipment and bikes could be kept on the balcony which is next to the entrance way.
